You have questions, we have answers

Between our four locations, we field a lot of questions from interested parents and caregivers about our programs. Below you will find answers to some of the most common queries we receive. If you have a question you don't see, please email hello@booknooknyc.com and we'll get back to you as soon as we can!

What are the age groups for classes?

We offer a range of reading classes for kids based on age groups from 6-months to 8-years-old.

How many students are in each class?

Our student to teacher ratio is 5:1. The maximum number of students in our tiered learning level classes is six students. Big Hoot classes can be one-on-one or small groups of up to three children.

How often do classes meet?

Our learning level classes meet once a week and our Little Prep classes meet twice a week, coinciding with the school year. Our Summer Enrichment classes meet two or three times a week depending on the age group.

What if my child does not settle into their Book Nook classes?

We believe wholeheartedly that students of all learning backgrounds will enjoy and benefit from the Book Nook experience.  However, if for any reason your little one does not adapt or your circumstances change by the end of the required two month transition period, we are happy to provide a refund for the remaining balance of your tuition. Please contact staff for more information.

Is Book Nook available to rent?

Our W69th, Tribeca, and Park Slope locations are available for kids’ birthday parties. Fill out a request form and our coordinator will get in touch with you to go over all the birthday party and rental details.

Does Rina teach classes?

Our founder Rina Collins created the curriculum at Book Nook and trains all of our teachers, covering every aspect of our unique program. Although Rina does not teach classes, she is very hands-on with everything at Book Nook and splits her time between our locations.

Is there stroller parking available?

At our Tribeca location, we have stroller parking. Take the elevator down to level L2 and you can park strollers outside of the covered Book Nook entrance.

At our Upper West Side location, we have limited stroller parking. Book Nook is located on the garden level and we’ll help you bring your stroller down the five steps. You can park strollers outside of the covered Book Nook entrance.

Is Book Nook open on the weekends?

Our UWS location is not open on the weekends. Our Tribeca location is open on the weekend for special events and you can check our home page for announcements.

Is Book Nook hiring new staff?

We’re always interested in hearing from early childhood educators who are interested in joining our family. Please send us an email at hello@booknooknyc.com with your teaching qualifications.

Are classes canceled due to inclement weather?

On occasion, Book Nook cancels classes for safety reasons due to bad weather. On these instances, we will send an email out before the first class, contact parents throughout the day and post on our social media. Cancelled classes will be rescheduled at the end of the school year.
