We chose the Upper West Side when we first opened Book Nook because this neighborhood is as family-friendly as you can get. Central Park and Riverside Park ensure you don’t need a backyard, and the American Museum of Natural History and Lincoln Center provide plenty of culture. Book Nook is conveniently located near the 81st Street subway station via the B or C train and the 79th Street station via the 1 train. We offer our reading enrichment classes during the school year and a fun, educational summer program - learn more!
Frequently Asked Questions
How many children will be in my child's enrichment class?
Book Nook classes have always been small group, to ensure our students are receiving individualized attention from the teacher. Our student to teacher ratio is 6:1. The maximum number of students in our tiered learning classes is six students. Our Big Hoots will be a ratio of 3:1.
Can I try out a class?
Sure! We'd love for you to experience a class with us before signing up. You can choose a free, 45 minute trial or a full trial for a $40 fee which will be later applied to your tuition, should you choose to enroll. Please email the studio to set up the trial class.
What if I miss a class?
We believe that consistency is key when it comes to learning; however, we understand that your child may need to miss a class from time to time. We will accommodate one makeup per semester for illness only. This will be scheduled at the end of the semester. If you miss a class for another reason, we are happy to send home your child's folder so they can complete it at home!
Do you offer weekend classes?
Book Nook classes meet Monday-Friday between 9am and 6pm. We do not offer weekend classes, but our studios are open for events, storytimes and birthday parties on the weekends! Check out our social media to see the upcoming events!
Are teachers certified?
All of our teachers have experience working in early childhood teaching. We go through an extensive hiring process to bring the best teachers to Book Nook! All teachers complete training in our Book Nook curriculum and complete ongoing professional development and training throughout the year.
